I personally think that it would be cool if you could buy or earn through a quest a horse that you could ride around towns. Also you could ride the horse through an explorable area, BUT the horse should have the same amount of health as the player... You know what I mean, it takes forever to get from one end of Lions Arch to the other, same with pre-searing ascalon city... In other words, to have a quick form of transportation around town... Also if you could buy a pet, if you werent a ranger that would be nice too...

Post your thoughts, comments, criticism, etc. here

Hmm. I'm confused. Are you running thru all the connected zones everytime you travel from one town to the next? The towns themselves are not that big to require a horse inside and the travel map will take you from one town to the next with a click of the mouse. If you mean to use horses to explore new areas, I see no problem with that. But dont really think its needed, cool yes needed not really. If I misunderstood your post im sorry. The post seems to imply to me that your unaware you can travel to any previously visited town with one mouse click on the travel map.

I know, it's just cool and at large towns such as lions arch, for people who cant play that long it would be nice...

Maybe you could earn one through a quest at pre-searing by helping a rancher... But if you didnt complete the quest at pre-searing then you could have another chance at post-searing...

I think if its a just a cool thing to have a horse and has no real impact on game play it could be implemented and horse could go for a few hundred gold.
thats not hard to raise in a few hours of play. I see no problem with it but then again I dont have to write the code to add it, nor do I know how much work would be involved for something thats just cool but not really functional or game expanding. They may think it not worth the trouble. But I do agree it would be cool.

You made two threads about a topic that has already been beaten to death. You win.

That is dumb.

The only reason mounts were ever used in both WoW AND other games such as FFXI (I love Chocobos to death, too ) is to speed up travel. We have instant warp to towns so we don't need mounts.

However, I believe if you add onto your idea you could make it something more useful, instead of a stupid waste of programming.

Such as add horsemanship skills, etc. Horse only attacks, whatever. You get the point. Sorry if I am overly bashing on your horsey idea

I think they should just take out the instant warp to towns. This way, all these little girls who keep complaining about not wanting to have horses in the game will have no other choice but to ride around on my little pony. Besides, EQ has em and that game has been around for 6 years? Oh, wait thats right someone going to reply that this isn't EQ...well la de F'ing duh! GW's bring in the horses, the homes, and everything else that these silly little old skool dinosaurs don't want to be added in the game

No warp = stupid. I'd like to see you run from Ascalon to Henge of Denravi and then do Sanctum Cay just because you wanted to help a low level friend and now must return to the Crystal Desert.

With warp = horses useless. If you can't afford to run around Lion's Arch because you can't "play too long" I don't think you should be playing at all. Seriously. You can't even run around a town?

This is no longer about whether or not people need horses or whether or not they're cool. It's just plain stupid.

I completely agree. There is also a statistical imbalance with simply slapping on mounts for the current classes. This would make all of the speed skills such as escape and sprint utterly useless. Your idea of giving mounts for special new professions (perhaps in the expansion?) that are actually designed to use them in a balanced manner hit the nail straight on. This is probably the only way of introducing mounts into Guild Wars.

I'm not against mounts, I'm against blindly slapping on unbalancing things into a game simply because they're present in other games.

Maybe a centaur...?

but then the centaur would have to have something bad or else everyone's going to be a centaur...?

Maybe the centaur isnt as strong in magic or warrior thingeys
